Follow Jesus

I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

It’s all about Jesus. Following Him is the greatest honour and privilege. Many people talk about being Christian; but being a Christian is more than attending a church service, doing good works or loving your neighbour. It’s about giving up your life to follow THE life, the life of Christ.

Here at the Foundry Church, our vision is all about following Jesus. To become a follower of Jesus, we encourage people to talk to Jesus, read about Jesus in the Bible, and begin to live their life in a way that Jesus teaches us to.

Following Jesus often looks likes this:

Praying a Simple Prayer

“God – I need you in my life. I am sorry for all the times I have made wrong choices. Please forgive me. I believe that you sent your Son, Jesus, to die for my sin. I believe Jesus rose from the dead and is alive today. Please forgive me. I receive your forgiveness. Help me to live the rest of my life for you. I choose to follow Jesus and make Him the Lord of my life. Amen”.

Talk to Someone

If you have prayed this prayer, you should talk to someone. We would love to connect with you and help you in your new life. Please get in touch with us here, or come and see us at one of our Sunday services. We have a team of people on our Visitors lounge who would love to talk to you.

Talk to God

Praying is simply talking and listening to God. You don’t have to have a qualification in Theology or have been a Christian for years to talk to God. You just have to be real. Jesus taught us how to pray in Matthew 6. The Message version of the Bible puts it like this:

The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God. Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this:

Our Father in heaven,
Reveal who you are.
Set the world right;
Do what’s best—

    as above, so below.
Keep us alive with three square meals.
Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others.
Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil.
You’re in charge!

You can do anything you want!
You’re ablaze in beauty!
    Yes. Yes. Yes.
