We Is Better Than Me

by Adam Hewitt on May 27, 2018

I was at a conference recently and was so stirred by the phrase ‘We is better than Me’. God doesn’t want us to do life alone; so much so that He sent Jesus to establish something on earth called ‘the church’. The church is the WE; Gods plan is that as we grow in our faith, that we would do it with others, in the context of church. More than a building, but the gathering of the saints.

The local church has done much good; its also caused its fair share of pain, grief and sadness to many. People have been hurt by Church, rejected by Church and let down. That’s because its still led by humans; men and woman carrying their own brokenness. But God still loves it, and so do I! No amount of pain, rejection and failure by people will stop God from loving His church. He sent his Son to die for it. And He will bring it to a place of beauty and restoration once again.

If you struggle with church, please know that you are not alone. We all do from time to time. But we don’t need to struggle with Jesus. May we keep our eyes on Him; may we love and respect each other; may we show honour and applaud the great leaders and pastors and ministries that bless our lives. But let’s keep it about Jesus. He’s the real superstar.

Questions:

  1. What do you think of Church? How can you grow to love it more this week?
  2. Do you have any hurt that you are still carrying about Church? How will you move on from that?
  3. How can you pray for your Church? And how can you make sure you stick with it for the log run?
