Stop. Look. Listen.

by Adam Hewitt on January 06, 2019

Over the next 12 weeks, we are embarking on a soul detox. An opportunity to take a good look at the inner part of our lives and ask Jesus where we are at, and look out to the life of Jesus to see how he lived and allow Him in to bring about change where needed.

In Matthew 11:28-30 Jesus said this:

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”

You can sign up to the soul detox by doing the following:

  1. Look in. Examine where you are at. Ask Jesus to show you what needs to go and what needs to change.
  2. Look out. To Jesus. He is the great hope we have. His Way, His Truth and His Life are the model and the method. The start of a new year is a great time to get our priorities right and focus on Who is really important in our lives.
  3. Listen and learn. From Jesus. Many people through history have looked a the life of Jesus, even studied His life but not changed. We have to commit to listening and learning from Jesus. That means admitting that we aren’t always right, don’t have all the answers, and need help. The promise of Jesus is that He won't force anything upon us. As CS Lewis said, He won't ‘force himself upon us or ravish us, He will only woo us’.

May 2019 be your best year yet.
