On Sunday we looked at Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. (NLT)
We all have times in our lives where we are desperate for God to speak to us, to bring us direction, to bring a breakthrough, but how often do we stop to listen to what he has to say to us?
Maybe we are waiting for the audible voice, the sign or the picture – God can absolutely speak in those ways. But something available to us all is God’s Word, the Bible, and it’s full of God’s guidance and hope.
Reading the Bible, it’s hard! It doesn’t come naturally to us all, life is full of distractions, other things shout louder, different seasons of life make it harder, sometimes we read things that don’t make sense or seem hard to take.
I suspect we’ve all felt some of those struggles. And yet it’s God’s Word, the very words of the Creator of the Universe! And it’s more available to us than ever before. Here’s some simple tips to engage with the Bible more:
- Prioritise it
- Keep it fresh
- Work it out in community
