How to be filled with the Holy Spirit

How to be filled with the Holy Spirit

by Adam Hewitt on May 12, 2019

When the Holy Spirit truly comes upon a believer, something happens.

In Acts 2, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit was poured out. The result was speaking in tongues, much joy (the locals thought the disciples were drunk!), boldness – Peter's powerful sermon, and the birth of the church as we know it – 3000 people were added to the church that day alone!

We need to be a people led by the Holy Spirit. On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came and gave birth to the church, gave power to witness, and power to live extraordinary lives - power to see the world changed! As Mike Pilavachi says, “The Holy Spirit wasn’t sent so we can have bless ups in our churches but so the world can be changed”.

Jesus has called you, and equipped you, by the indwelling power of His Spirit, to be a world changer. If you are longing for this power, believe the promise is for you (Acts 2:39), make room for Him and receive the gift. He wants to change the world, through your life.

Questions for application:

  1. What one area of my life do I need more boldness and courage?
  2. How will I know I’ve received the baptism of the Holy Spirit? What might it look like in my life?
